Alden x Leffot Indy Boot, Tan Suede

We’ve received a delivery of Indy boots made by Alden expressly for Leffot. These are the softer side of Indy, made on the Trubalance last in tan suede on red micro soles. The tan suede is the perfect compliment to a pair of dark jeans and its contrast with the brick-colored soles adds loads of flair while maintaining its subtlety.

Because of the combination of suede and lightweight micro soles, these boots are incredibly light and soft, an extremely comfortable alternative to the boot’s more rugged cousin. You’ll feel like you’re wearing sneakers.

Alden Tan Suede Longwing

Alden’s Tan Suede Longwing is one of our favorite versions of their classic wingtip style. The tan suede is a perfect color to go with casual fabrics like denim and khaki, but not too rugged to be dressed up to smoother fabrics and more subdued colors.

Suede is a much more durable leather than its reputation proceeds. Put a little wear on these and they will look great with just about everything.

Alden x Leffot Saddle Shoe Restock

Spring is already fast approaching (okay maybe not so fast) but there is nothing better to go with the spring colors than these bright and lively saddle shoes, now making their second appearance at Leffot.

These preppy pairs were made for us on the Barrie last in tan calfskin with navy suede saddle, brass eyelets and red micro soles. They’re light as a feather and look great with khakis, seersucker as well as gray or navy slacks.

Waverly and Barrow

Continuing in the vein of suede, the Waverly and Barrow are our own more refined take on the relaxed suede buck shoe. Both are excellent shoes for a smart casual look and very seasonal for this time of year, great with the thick textured weaves and drab landscapes of winter.

Made in England and available exclusively at Leffot these welted shoes are in stock in Cola, Tasmin, and Holborn suede.

Black & Tan

I saw an interesting article in Men’s Ex magazine, where they took the laces out of a pair of black cap toe oxfords and replaced them with tan laces.

I decided to try it here, and chose the Gaziano & Girling, Oxford for the lace exchange. I think it looks pretty cool. It’s an interesting and simple way to change the look of a black shoe. The laces I used are a flat wax lace, which have a dressier look.

I would wear these with a black or dark gray suit with either a shirt, tie or pocket square that picks up the color of the laces.

Note: I tried this with several styles and brands; I found it to look best with  plain or cap toes. Brogues looked to busy but I guess it’s a matter of taste. I always feel less is more, and this is about a subtle twist. Other colors could look equally good but the key is to play off the laces with some other accessory.

Alden Chukkas

Today we received our reorder of the Alden Chukka Boots in unlined Snuff, and Tan suede. These are on Flex Welt leather soles, which I think, makes them more appealing and also technically qualifies them as Chukka Boots as opposed to Desert Boots. FYI The name, chukka, is derived from field game polo, meaning a period of play. In any case they’re great fun to wear and great looking.

Here I am wearing the Snuff color; they’re light, soft, flexible (of course), casual, classic, and recession proof. By the way my sixteen year old son wears them all the time and loves them.
