Summer’s approaching, and it’s time to break out the seersucker and spectator shoes. During the Jazz Age seersucker was de rigueur in the warm summer months. This summer there are two weekends to step back to the roaring twenties and party like a Fitzgerald or Hemingway.
Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra hosts the 8th annual Jazz Age Lawn Party on governor’s Island. Singer/arranger Arenella brings his 11-piece orchestra’s jazz age sound to the festivities singing, playing cornet and leading his band.
Mr. Arenella inhabits the past as much as anyone thriving in the present can. But making Dreamland a reality takes lots of sweat and shoe leather — from shoes both vintage and custom-made by us. To that end Mr. Arenella favors Edward Green and we have just the ticket for putting on the Ritz.
Dreamland Orchestra founder and director Michael Arenella was on a mission when he paid us a visit a couple of months ago. The mission was to find a pair of white wingtips to wear with his highly stylized, custom tailored 20’s era ensembles. We considered several Church’s models including the Chetwynd and Burwood, but neither was quite right.
I brought out my black and white Sidford’s and whammo that was it. Michael is a very exacting and dandy dresser, I think this pair should fit quite nicely in his wardrobe.

Spectator requests have been on the rise, and several will arrive soon, which we’ll post. We have a make up order in for the Longwing in Black & White, which is bound to be an instant classic.
