Summer’s approaching, and it’s time to break out the seersucker and spectator shoes. During the Jazz Age seersucker was de rigueur in the warm summer months. This summer there are two weekends to step back to the roaring twenties and party like a Fitzgerald or Hemingway.
Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra hosts the 8th annual Jazz Age Lawn Party on governor’s Island. Singer/arranger Arenella brings his 11-piece orchestra’s jazz age sound to the festivities singing, playing cornet and leading his band.
Mr. Arenella inhabits the past as much as anyone thriving in the present can. But making Dreamland a reality takes lots of sweat and shoe leather — from shoes both vintage and custom-made by us. To that end Mr. Arenella favors Edward Green and we have just the ticket for putting on the Ritz.
Few shoes are more eye-catching than the spectator. Known as a “correspondent” in the UK, these distinctive contrast-color shoes once graced the feet of the jet-set crowd and today evoke images of early jazz, lawnparties, and classic style. Wear them with a three-piece-suit or dressed down with denim, these beauties will take you anywhere.
The Henley is a newly released model from Edward Green; a kiltie brogue on the 888 last, done up for us in dark oak and white calf with a burnished toe and heel and single leather soles.
We invite you to join us on May 30th for our Edward Green trunk show. Global Sales Director, Xavier Candat, and U.S. Representative Robert Godley will be here to present the collection.
