The Grafton is one stalwart shoe. It’s a no nonsense kind of shoe that says I’m grounded, a workhorse if you will. It’s also the first English shoe I coveted so many years ago. Today they’re just as stately and classic as the first time I laid eyes on them.

Full brogues are perfect for fall they’re just so solid and versatile. These shoes are built like a tank, which is to say they’re ready for action on the streets or in the field, and with proper care will be by your side for a very long time.

Hot, Hot, and More Hot

It’s been over two years since we began publishing this blog. This was our very first post back in June 2008. Now that the summer is here it’s seems relevant.

When it gets this hot it’s tempting to wear your shoes without socks. I’m not talking about sandals or sneakers. I’m talking about “shoes” like the Church’s Grafton.

I tried it on Saturday, and didn’t get very far. For me relief came in a small box of Band Aid Brand, Blister Block strips.

Sure powder helps absorb perspiration but in this heat, not very much. What’s your secret to wearing shoes barefoot comfortably?

Wing It

Fall is in the air and wing tips are on my mind, apparently I’m not alone. There’s been a sudden spike in the number of clients looking for classic full brogues with double soles. I wear a couple of these models; I find them to be both versatile and classic. Here’s the line up.

New Grafton

The Grafton by Church’s English Shoes is one of our most popular shoes. Classic in style, a timeless brogue, sensible and versatile. We’ve now added the Grafton R in Brown Nevada Calf on Dainite soles a great addition.

If Anyone Can Church’s Can

As in all aspects of life people have their preconceived ideas and it’s no different when it comes to shoes. I like Church’s English Shoes for a number of reasons.

They have longevity; they make classic/traditional shoes, and have now expanded to Woman’s styles. They have a large core stock in the UK and if we need a shoe it can usually be here via FedEx within a week if it’s on the shelf.

But one of the things I like most about them is that for a large company by Northampton standards they are incredibly flexible and reliable.

This past summer a client was looking for a pair of the Consul’s and wanted them in Tabacco Nevada Calf, which we sell, but he needed a UK size 5F. Not a problem, after we tried a similar shoe on the same last an MTO pair was made for him. His delight of being able to wear “men’s” shoes and not having to shop in the boys department was life changing for him.

On the other end of the scale is our client Mitch who wears a UK 13G that’s a US 14EEE. He’s ordered the Grafton and we have just received two pairs of Shannon’s one in Black the other in Light Ebano. He too is extremely excited to be able to get the kind of shoes he’s always wanted without having to search for a needle in a haystack.
