Payton Cosell Turner and Brian Kaspr
Wallpaper, Embroidery, Drawings and Photography
Opening Reception Thursday November 12, 2009, 6 to 9 pm
“The Salon at Sundown,” a multi-media exhibition, features new works by artists Payton Cosell Turner and Brian Kaspr. Turner’s major work reinvents the ancient design known as damask into a dazzling, detailed wallpaper of over 60,000 hand applied, individual stickers. No two sections of wallpaper are alike.
Kaspr’s meticulous and intricate embroideries with tongue-in-cheek themes, reinterprets this venerable medium of embellishment into works wholly new and contemporary. While both artists share a love for textiles, design, and vintage motifs, they also work in other media. Turner’s new drawings also form part of the exhibit, as do Kaspr’s latest works in color photography.
The ambitious melding of artistic forms in “The Salon at Sundown” gives the audience a unique opportunity to explore the multiple visions of the artists, an engaging mix of the enduring and the contemporary.
On view through December 31st.
Reception to include hors d’oeuvres from Alex Raij & Eder Montero
