The Alfreton

August 24th, 2009

Our newest boot is the Alfreton Chelsea by Church’s. A new style for us and for Church’s, the Alfreton is made on the 105 last in black polished binder with diamond rubber soles. The combination of highly polished calf plus a raised and rounder toe box makes this Chelsea boot a more contemporary version of the classic Amberley.

These are also excellent boots to wear in damp weather as well since polished binder repels dampness and the diamond rubber soles will keep the bottom of your feet dry.

All’s Well That Adwell

August 18th, 2009

When I first saw a sample of this shoe I thought, “Wow this is a really “dumb” shoe.” In the “shoe business” a shoe of this sort is referred to that way. It’s not a negative connotation in fact I meant it as a complement. It’s basic, simple, a bit old fashioned, even orthopedic and yet it has a certain style and coolness to it.

Mama used to say, “Simple is as simple does”. So why mess with it? The Adwell by Church’s is not just a new model it’s a departure from the traditional English shoes we’re used to. “Old” is the new “New”.

In The Window

July 28th, 2009

This week we’re featuring our new stompers by Church’s. Sorry these are not boots for wimps, the upper is black pull up calf (full grain calf skin) on heavy lug soles and braided cord shoe laces. A must have for lovers of brogues; there’s plenty here to go around.

New Arrival – Church’s McFarlane

July 22nd, 2009

We received a brand new boot by Church’s today. The McFarlane is the first of our new fall boots to arrive. They some how remind me of Dr. Martens meet Tricker’s. These boots are black pull up calf (full grain) on storm welted double rubber lug soles. They have bumped out wing toes for roomy comfort, and are heavily brogued. These boots are great for lots of walking in good weather or bad, these are serious sh_t kickers.

I posted this new box in plaid. I was expecting the usual dark brown box and I actually did a double take when we opened the carton. Does anyone know what plaid this is?

Church’s MTO

July 8th, 2009

Church’s cap toe oxford the Consul is one of the most classic styles in their collection. This MTO pair is in Walnut Nevada Calf, a great looking color. Not too light or too dark. To that our client requested double leather soles which, gives them a nice solid look. There’s nothing wrong with a little heft as long as it’s in the right places.

In The Window

May 18th, 2009

I like this window a lot; I think it looks very crisp and neat. The Westbury monk straps by Church’s, the Panama hat by Borsalino and the new cotton and silk bandanna by Psycho Bunny.

You’ll need to provide the cigar and linen suit to look as if you stepped right out of Casablanca.

Monk Strap Reorder

The Church’s Westbury, which we had sold out, has now been restocked. This is an excellent travel shoe due to its versatility. It’s great as a dress or casual shoe and is easy off and on going through airport security……

Spring To Summer

April 24th, 2009

This is the time of year to bring out the bucks and spectators. Here are a few shoes to put some oomph in your step. I wear the Church’s Sidford in Black and White and I’m always complimented on them.

The Shoes In The Window

April 18th, 2009

Today is such a fine spring day in NYC we thought it a perfect time to feature our newly arrived shoe the Shipley in white deerskin by Church’s English Shoes.

These are incredibly soft and very smart looking. In contrast to traditional white bucks which are normally suede and on a red rubber soles we prefer the clean look of the deerskin and leather soles.

It’s Hip To Be Square

The Westbury by Church’s English Shoes is admittedly a very basic monk strap. But that is the appeal of it for me.

Legend has it that these were the dress uniform shoes for officers of the British Military. Ours are in polished binder, which will keep them spit shined and looking great with a business suit or a pair of skinny jeans.

I know I have a habit of saying that but its big point with me. Shoes even thought they may look dressy are versatile and can be worn dressed up or down.
