Inspired by the work-shoe first built by founder G.A. Krause nearly 100 years ago Wolverine’s 1000 Mile Boot is a boot for the Everyman. The new 1000 mile boot made its debut in the fall of 2009 and there’s been no looking back. The next 1000 miles begins soon, with the introduction of the Addison. Like it’s sibling the “Original” the Addison is a heritage boot that is faithful to its forefather.
Our 1000 Mile boots are made in the USA with Genuine Horween Chromexcel leather uppers, and classic welt construction. Whether you work hard or play hard these boots can take it. They’re built well, they’re built to last.
Addison 1000 Mile Boot, Tan Chromexcel – $350 reserve orders
More than 125 years ago, Wolverine founder G.A. Krause built a company on a dream of creating finely crafted footwear using the best materials of the time. The Wolverine 1,000 Mile shoe was created in a time when men were looking for authentic craftsmanship and footwear that would last. Advertised as comfortable enough to “give you 1,000 miles of wear,” the shoe became a wardrobe staple for men of the 20th century.
The next 1,000 Miles have been laid, introducing the “Addison” for fall 2010. 125 years after the first 1,000 Mile shoes debuted Wolverine continues to create finely crafted footwear using the best materials of the time. Made of Genuine Horween Chromexcel these boots are as comfortable as the day is long and built to take whatever you can throw at them.
The Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots have traveled far and wide, our clients own them in Scotland, Australia, Germany, Singapore and this pair in Brazil. Antonio was kind enough to write us and let us know how much he is enjoying his.
If there is one question we get asked most often about these boots it’s “How will they wear?” Well, they look pretty good to us, obrigado Antonio.
Hi Steven,
I bough these black Wolverine 1000 Mile boots from you, when I was in New York, November 6th 2009 (a Friday – I was with my daughter). You were so kind and made me try the boots, and from that point on there was no going back! I bought them right away. Congratulations for your fantastic shop, and for the “out of shop” experience – the website, blog and so on – because that was how I discovered the store, surfing the web here in Brazil.
I am a painter, so I made this photo of the already worn boots in front of a little painting of mine.
Tis’ the season to be rustic, our reorder of Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots is here. These boots not only look great, they’re made to last. That’s because they’re made with Genuine Horween Chromexcel leather right here in the U.S.A.
This is our final order before Christmas and it’s possible there won’t be enough to fill every stocking. Santa’s got a brand new bag, Ho, Ho, Ho……

Sure it would have been perfect if the song were “1000 Miles” but it wasn’t. Instead Bobby Bare sang “500 Miles Away From Home” in 1963 and it’s still a favorite of mine.
So what’s the point? Well we received the first delivery of the Wolverine 1000 mile boots and I couldn’t help feeling nostalgic. I could imagine the men who wore these boots when they were first produced in the early 1900’s. I also imagine that some, if not many of them worked “away from home”, doing whatever it took to put bread on the table.
Many years have past and yet, today there is a stronger sense of heritage, and “doing what it takes” than any time I can recall. I grew up in Michigan and Wolverine (a Michigan company) was always present. It represented the no nonsense, Midwestern sensibility of it’s customers. Today over 100 years later they are still manufactured in the U.S.A. as they’ve always been and that’s good enough for me.
So listen to the song twice or 500 miles per boot, these babies were classics from day one. I encourage you to slip a pair on, lace ‘em up and embrace your heritage.
