Edward Green the venerable English shoemaker marks their 120th anniversary in 2010. To put some historical perspective on this achievement 1890 also saw the publication of “The Picture of Dorian Grey” Idaho, and Wyoming were admitted as the 43rd and 44th states, the New Scotland Yard opened, and Nellie Bly completed her round-the-world journey in 72 days. Not only was an extraordinary shoe company born so were Stan Laurel, Jelly Roll Morton, Dwight Eisenhower, Groucho Marx, Charles de Gaulle, Agatha Christie, and Harlan Sanders (The Colonel). That is some very impressive company and one helluva run, bully for you Edward Green.
For over a century Edward Green has maintained it’s exceedingly high standards of quality, craftsmanship and a reputation of producing the finest shoes in England “For the discerning few” an accomplishment not to be taken lightly.
In celebration of this milestone Edward Green has introduced the first of its 120th Anniversary Limited Edition models the Sandhurst, a classic English derby that has been culled from the archives. This Limited Edition model will be offered only during 2010 with each pair hand numbered and packaged in special anniversary boxes.
Orders are now being taken for the Sandhurst available in two versions. Please contact us for price and delivery details.

The Double Monk strap is such a versatile shoe, smart with jeans or cords, yet sophisticated with a suit. This is a must have shoe one that belongs in every man’s wardrobe. The Edward Green Westminster epitomizes this classic English look, simple lines, a smart cap toe, and solid straps and buckles, what more can you ask for, except possibly more colors. If you add one shoe to your wardrobe this year I strongly encourage you to make it a Double Monk, you can thank us later.

This is market week in New York, which means a lot of running around to visit vendors, thus the lag in updates here. As today was our appointment with Edward Green I thought it was appropriate to post my new MTO Falkirk’s. I have yet to wear these but I’m chomping at the bit to do so.

We first met Jonathan and Mindy in October when this charming couple came in looking for shoes for Jonathan to wear to their wedding at the breathtaking Riverside Farms in Pittsfield, VT. Jonathan was already well into the process of having his English “country-wedding suit” made up by the venerable Alex Wilcox at Lord Willy’s.
Naturally a country wedding and country suit called for country footwear, which in this case came in the form of the perfect English country boot, the Edward Green Galway.
Congratulations Jonathan and Mindy you both looked fantastic, and a big thank you for sharing your special day with us.

The Asquith is one of Edward Green’s signature oxfords. It has such great pinking and brouging and how refreshing to see it made up in such a beautiful way. These are going to make one dynamite pair of spring shoes.

Edward Green MTO’s this time the theme being Burnt Pine Antique. It’s uncanny how great minds think alike. These gentlemen placed their orders individually and yet they’re of a similar mind, are they not?
Burnt Pine Antique is a very popular and wearable color, a warm mid brown, which works extremely well with grays, blues, and browns not to mention a great pair of raw denim jeans.

A is for Asquith, E is for Ecton and now these two Edward Green classics are available at Leffot. Both models are part of the EG Core Collection. The real beauty of an Edward Green shoe is it’s timeless design and superb handcrafted quality. If you already wear them you’ll know what I mean, if you don’t I encourage to treat yourself.
Edward Green will celebrate their 120th anniversary in 2010, and to celebrate they will be offering a selection of Limited Edition models, more on that very soon.

We received a delivery of Edward Green MTO’s and immediately realized a very interesting coincidence. All of the pairs had a fraternal twin, a mate or partner if you will in the parlance of our times.
This group really got me psyched; there are some very special shoes here.

For some reason or other we don’t place many orders for loafers or casuals as they say across the pond. But every now and then something special comes our way.
The Piccadilly is one of Edward Green’s “Core Line” models. A classic penny strap but this one with twill insets, the perfect shoe to sip dry Manhattan’s in. Who says spectators are just for summer?
