The Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots have been a huge success. We’ve just received a reorder in both Rust and Black. Judging by the way these boots have preformed we’re likely to sell through this order quickly.
Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots in Rust, and Black Horween Chromexcel Leather – $325
I’m very excited about the new G&G models; these two are the first to arrive. All the MTO’s posted this week are from the first production we’ve received from their new factory. The workmanship, leather quality, and coloring are exceptional, shades of future past.
Just ahead of our G&G trunk show we received several new MTO shoes. These two struck me. They’re for two different clients but both were of the same mind. These two shoes are in Brown Highland Grain. I happen to be a big fan of Scotch Grains and think it’s an excellent choice for fall shoes.
Cannes KN14 (loafer) Last, Oak Bark Soles – MTO
They have another relation to each other besides the leather. The hand-sewn split toe Derby and Loafer makes for an interesting comparison, which is something you rarely see. Kind of like distant cousins.
Dr. M. is a French physician, a very good client and happens to live around the corner from us. In late August he placed an order for a pair of Pierre Corthay, Arca Boucle in Lie de Vin. He then went to France on holiday. He came in to visit the day he returned and amazingly his shoes had arrived about twenty minutes before he did. You should have seen his face. It was the same color as his shoes he was so excited.
The other day Dr. M. came in to tell us how many compliments he’s received on his shoes (not surprising). Then he handed me a small shopping bag from Ladurée, Paris. Inside was a beautiful “Christian Louboutin gift box for Ladurée.” The packaging was so elegant and the macaroons as always absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much Dr. M. for thinking of us on holiday you are most kind.

This season is shaping up to be a boot wearer’s paradise. We’re stocking up on plenty of high top footwear to serve and protect. Joining us soon will be Rider Boot Co, and we’re very excited to be their first U.S. stockist.
Many of you know Ron Rider and have worn his shoes and boots for years. Ron offers classic boot styles using a wide variety materials, such as calfskin, rough out leather, kudu, suede, and exotics and of course Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan.
Ron Rider at Leffot
We have three models arriving this season and we will post them all. The first model we’re featuring is the“Hobo” boot, which is a new model for Rider. According to Ron “It’s the very first boot I’ve done from concept to sketch to production.”
Rider Boot Co. Hobo Boot in Rough Out Leather – $620
These boots are made of rough out leather with dark brown calf heel quarters on Sestriere soles (Italian equivalent of Dainite). The Hobo made its debut at our trunk show this past July and was a huge hit. A very cool boot with denim, these are a must have for fall.
Shoeshine Boy was the alter ego of Underdog, one my favorite cartoon characters as a child. I conjured his image recently as I sat peacefully on our Ephtée polishing seat shining up our display shoes.
I enjoy polishing shoes it’s relaxing. I enjoy working with my hands, as well as the turpentine smell of Saphir, and admiring the fruits of my labor. I couldn’t help notice that passersby stopped to watch me as I worked. I’m not sure what the fascination is, perhaps the primordial use of ones hands performing manual labor is enough to provide a moment of reflection and respite in a busy world.
The Ephtée Figaro polishing seat is extremely comfortable and perfectly designed for its purpose. You are welcome to stop by and try it out for yourself. If a polishing seat is not your style you may want to consider a leather-polishing map. These two maps keep your work area neat and clean and roll up for easy storage.
Whether on a seat or not I strongly encourage you to take an interest and polish your own shoes; I think you’ll find the results very satisfying. For you newbie’s be brave, be adventurous you’re not alone, and if you find yourself in a jam, “Have no fear Underdog is here.”
